Thursday - 4/4/13: Ran 5.10 miles/4o min. I ran the lake path with some co-workers. No music and it felt good.
Friday – 4/5/13: Ran 4.45 miles/32 min. I ran with Krissi to pick up our Shamrock Shuffle packets at Navy Pier. This run felt harder but I think it was dodging the people on the pier path that was the hardest.
On the run back we had to wear our packet bags on our backs and mine chafed…a little.
Saturday – 4/6/13: Day off
Sunday - 4/7/13: Ran the Shamrock Shuffle. PR’d!
I’m happy with this time/pace!
This recap is short because I was lazy and didn’t take many pictures. The shuffle is normally a very organized race. I’ve never had any issues. This year, however, I had to “break in” to my starting corral (C). They closed the wave 1 corrals at 8:15am and I’d say about 30% of the runners were waiting in a line to get into the corral because the gate openings were so small. When they closed the gates for our corrals, all the runners in line starting freaking and rushing the gates to get in. I managed to sneak in behind two taller men and made it in to my start corral. It was pretty scary feeling like you could get trampled at any moment.
Other than that, the course was fast and wonderful! I love the Shamrock Shuffle and would recommend it to anyone trying to build their race mileage on an easy course. The weather was perfect too! It was about 60-65 degrees and sunny. Amazing.
Here are some photos from the Post Race Party.
Krissi’s post race happy face! Check Krissi out!
Monday – 4/8/13: Ran 5 miles/40 min. on the lake path with Krissi. This was a HARD run. I ran with no music and it sucked.
Tuesday 4/9/13: 5.13 miles/38:45 Krissi and I ran on the west side of the city today. We did some speed work but ended up running the entire 5 miles pretty fast (7:30/mile average pace)!
I had a lazy weekend that consisted of Kardashian updates and my new fave ice cream, H-D blueberry crumble. So f-ing good.
I’ll be running the More Magazine/Fitness Magazine Half Marathon in NYC this weekend!! I’m hoping for a celebrity sighting. I’m also hoping it isn’t Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Not interested. I just read that Alison Sweeney will be co-hosting and running! I like her. I’m apparently in a half marathon competition with a friend at work. He just beat my PR on his first marathon. Lame. So now I have to beat a 1:49 and some change. I hate challenges but I do them.
I need one of those “Running Sucks” shirts.
Damn it Axl Rose, why are you so damn weird-looking now?!
How do you go from this…
(Axl is his prime)
It’s sad that the Axl I knew is gone. One of my fave things to do is get drunk and watch old Guns N’ Roses music videos at Lockdown Bar. For what it’s worth, I’m disappointed in your appearance. Am I the only one who thinks of The Wizard of Oz when I look at his “Now” photo? Ick.
Did you run the Shamrock Shuffle? If so, how did you do?! Are you running any races this weekend?
